Setting Goals
Setting Goals
In my first post for this website, I wanted to do something that would have an impact on their careers almost instantaneously. So while searching around for idea, I remembered what I have done with all racers I have worked with, to set a goal or goal for the upcoming season.
Most racers I know when asked what their goal is they triumphantly shout to win, of course! And while I really believe at winning should be the goal of every racer it may or may not be realistic at this current point in your career. What I am talking about is over the course of the next 12 months what are you going to do to measure if you’ve been successful? What can you do to be better each week? Each race? Each time you hit the track? Are you the type of racer who has a plan every time they enter the pit gate?
Successful people will take small bites and overcome each one in succession to achieve their overall goals. Here are DDR Motorsports, we start the season with a series of goals we want to achieve for the season. Then we break it down each week with a plan for race day. Our setups are designed to test something to try and gain an advantage, our practice sessions have a purpose and even for the feature, besides trying to win, we have a purpose in mind. Every time the race car steps out on to the racing surface there is a goal to be achieved, do you do the same?
Let’s hear some of your goals for 2016. We all want to win the championship but beyond that what do you want from racing? Comment below and lets share our goals.
